Stocks jump on tech gains and falling inflation expectations
·1 min
Stocks started the week with gains across major indices, particularly the Nasdaq 100, led by the Tech sector. Semiconductors, such as Nvidia (NVDA) and AMD (AMD), saw notable gains. Healthcare updates were also prominent, with M&A activity in focus. Novartis (NVS), Merck (MRK), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), and Boston Scientific (BSX) are all involved in various acquisitions. Yields and the Dollar were lower following the NY Fed’s survey of consumer inflation expectations, which showed declines across all forecast horizons. Oil prices sold off after Saudi Arabia cut its OSPs. The Yen and Swiss Franc were supported by lower US rates.
